If you're anything like me, you spend a lot of time in Tableau. While Tableau does some great visuals out of the box and makes it easy with Show Me, sometime your dashboard calls for a lot of custom calculations.
When I'm in the zone, it can be a little annoying to move from my keyboard where I'm wildly typing away writing IF THEN statements, date calcs, or LODs - to my mouse to navigate to create a new calculation - and then back to my keyboard. Small problem in the grand scheme of things I know, but in the end this tip can save you time!
All you have to do is hold down these 3 keys in this order:
Alt A C

Big thanks to my teammate Matt Bigger for sharing this Tableau Tip with me!
And even more Tableau Hotkeys here:

Quick tips like this save actual lives. As a PhD student who works part-time at Last-Minute Assignments, I remember spending hours clicking through menus because I didn't know the shortcuts. I struggled so much that I'd look for assignment editing help just to finish anything on time. Now I realize that small efficiencies like a hotkey for a new calculation add up to real sanity. Thank you for sharing this tiny but mighty trick. You've just freed up minutes (maybe hours) for someone staring at a deadline. That matters. Keep these Tableau gems coming. We struggling folks appreciate you more than you know.
Tableau shortcuts honestly save so much time once deadlines start piling up. I was balancing a data project while helping my cousin move apartments, and everything became chaotic when some electronics were damaged during the move. We ended up checking low cost renters insurance Texas to recover part of the loss while I rushed to finish reports. Small tools and smart planning really keep stressful weeks from completely collapsing.
I liked how the post focused on small workflow improvements because honestly those little shortcuts save way more time than people expect when you work with data regularly. I remember struggling through a Tableau dashboard project during a week packed with coding labs and I kept falling behind because every calculation error meant starting over again. I finally used python assignment help to sort out the scripting side while I cleaned up the visualization work, and it genuinely made me realize that working smarter matters just as much as working harder.
